Four schools in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, are set to receive additional funding as part of a new state initiative. The Pennsylvania legislature is distributing an extra $32 million to 50 school districts across the state, aiming to provide relief to high-tax, low-wealth districts. The grants range from $50,000 to over $5 million.

In Monroe County, the East Stroudsburg Area School District will receive the largest grant of $5.5 million. The Stroudsburg Area Schools will receive $2.5 million, Pocono Mountain Schools will get $2.2 million, and Pleasant Valley Schools will receive $869,000. According to Monroe County's website, the East Stroudsburg Area School District will also receive additional funding for special education and school safety.

State Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, commented on the budget, stating that while it wasn't perfect, it moves the Commonwealth forward. She highlighted the significant increases in funding for the East Stroudsburg, Stroudsburg, and Pocono Mountain School Districts, which are part of a $717 million increase in education funding statewide.

The additional funding is expected to provide much-needed relief to the schools and contribute to the improvement of education in Monroe County.
