A 31-year-old Stroudsburg man was killed in a Thursday night crash in Monroe County. Matthew Hirsch died about 90 minutes after his motorcycle and another vehicle collided around 11 o'clock Thursday night in the area of routes 191 and 390 in Paradise Township. State Police in Stroudsburg are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

A man is expected to recover after being shot early Thursday morning in Easton. The 35-year-old man was shot around 12:30 Thursday morning in the 1000 block of Ferry Street. Investigators believe he was shot after an altercation with a group of people.

A pair of brothers are under arrest on charges they ran a big drug distribution network. Lehigh County DA Gavin Holihan say 40-year-old Jefran Canales-Tapia and 37-year-old Jeffrey Canales-Tapia were both arrested at their homes when search warrants were executed Thursday morning. Nine kilos of cocaine, worth $500,000, were allegedly found in Jefran's home, while a large amount of cash and a half-pound of marijuana was found in Jeffrey's home.

A man accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian on Christmas last year is being charged with homicide by vehicle. Lehigh County officials say 47-year-old Etienne Theagene was speeding when he fatally struck 75-year-old Edward Tomcics, who was crossing the 3200 block of Water Street in Whitehall Township. Investigators said Theagene would have had enough time to see Tomcics if he was going the posted speed limit. His preliminary hearing is set for next month.

Claire’s will close at least two of its Lehigh Valley stores after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month. The ear piercing and accessories retailer will close its stores at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township and the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township on an unknown date. The fate of the third Lehigh Valley Claire’s at Promenade Saucon Valley in Upper Saucon Township is unknown.

Accu-Weather's Heather Zehr says if you have outdoor plans this weekend, you should be in pretty good shape weather-wise. "I think is dry. Sunday is largely dry. If there is a thunderstorm on Sunday, it's probably towards the evening hours. I'm thinking around 6pm, so it's really late in the weekend," Zehr says. Expect high temperatures in the upper 80s or perhaps 90 with humid conditions expected.

Pennsylvania's July unemployment rate was 4.0 percent. That number is unchanged from the June figure and is two-tenths of a point below the nationwide number. Pennsylvania's unemployment rate was four-tenths of a point above the July 2024 figure.

Authorities say a stolen truck containing hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars worth of Pine Sol was found empty. Pennsylvania State Troopers said the truck was found abandoned along I-80 in New Jersey last week. Troopers said the truck was stolen in Dauphin County on August 3rd, while it was carrying $400,000 worth of the cleaner. The investigation is ongoing.

Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola returns to the Phillies rotation Sunday in Washington. When he does, manager Rob Thomson says he'll go with a six-man rotation for at least a little while. The reason is simple says the manager. "It's just getting some of these guys some extra rest," Thomson says. Nola hasn't pitched for the Phillies since May 14th thanks to rib and ankle injuries.
